Library Staff

Our Mission

The Westbrook Learning Center and Library and the Port Campus Library provide instructional materials, information services and collections to support the curricula offered by Connors State College and to meet the informational and research needs of students, faculty, staff and administration. The Library also promotes the cultural, recreational, personal and professional development of the Connors State College community.

Our Philosophy

The Westbrook Library and Learning Center and the Port Campus Library serve a diverse two-year college community. The staff respects and celebrates that diversity. We define our customer as any individual seeking information or knowledge. We assert that all library users are individuals who should be treated with courtesy and respect. Through our core services, we strive to support our users in their attainment of knowledge. Those core services include:

  • The maintenance of a collection of materials chosen for their quality, diversity, currency and relevance to the academic curriculum and the needs of the community;

  • The promotion of comprehensive and dynamic information services which support and enhance lifelong learning; and,

  • The provision of a comprehensive program of user instruction that promotes library research skills in conjunction with critical thinking skills.

We believe that all library users are entitled to:

  • Access to timely and accurate sources of information regardless of format or location;

  • Appropriate and knowledgeable assistance from the staff whether in the form of reference assistance, referral, user instruction or basic library orientation;

  • Clean, safe, attractive and reasonable quiet surroundings that foster an environment conducive to quiet study and academic scholarship; and,

  • Availability of fully functional equipment that allows them to complete their work.

Westbrook Library and Learning Center

Completed in 1985 and named for Connors’ thirteenth president, Carl O. Westbrook, the Westbrook Library Learning Center houses the Library, distance education classrooms, President’s Office and the Library Auditorium at the Warner Campus location.

Port Campus Library

The Port Campus Library can be found in the ICTC building just south of the Nursing and Allied Health building on the Three Rivers Port campus located at 2501 North 41st Street East, Muskogee, OK.

FAQs

My classes are in Muskogee. Do I have to drive to the Warner campus to use the library?

Connors has two library locations. The main library is on the Warner Campus but there is a branch library located in ICTC Building E which is directly south of the NAH building at the Port Campus in Muskogee. The same services afforded the Warner Campus students are available to the Port students. Requests for materials that reside at the Warner Campus may take 48-72 hours to fill so you are encouraged to plan ahead.

Also, the Muskogee Public Library (MPL), is located at 801 West Okmulgee Avenue. Muskogee County residents and residents affiliated with communities making up the Eastern Oklahoma District Library System can use and check-out MPL’s resources with an EODLS-issued library card. Students from non-affiliated counties such as communities in Wagoner and Okmulgee counties may use MPL resources in the building but will have to pay an out-of-district annual fee to check out materials.

What is available in the library?

Our main collection is housed in the Warner Campus Library and includes fiction and non-fiction books, reserves, entertainment DVD’s, periodicals and educational videos. We also have a copy machine, computer workstations, and study areas.

Along with the reference collection, Port Campus Library also holds fiction and non-fiction books, periodicals, videos, reserves, copy machine, computer workstations, and study areas are all together in one area.

How long may I check out library materials?

Most books are checked out for 3 weeks and may be renewed if not on hold for someone else.  Education videos, DVDs, etc., may be checked out for 1 week.  Check-out times are shorter during the summer.  Certain specialized items such as reserves and entertainment DVD’s have different loan periods.

How many items may I check out at one time?

There is a 5 title limit per person on most items. Some items have more restrictive limits. See Library
Staff for details.

Where are the reserve materials kept?

The reserve materials are kept behind the Information Desks at both campus library locations.

What are the fines for overdue materials?

The fine rate for books is 10¢ per day. The fine for entertainment DVD’s is $1 per day.

Is there a place for our group to study together?

Both libraries have group study areas available on a first-come basis.

What if the library doesn't own the items I need?

We participate in an Inter-library Loan system (ILL), through which items may be borrowed for your use from other
libraries. See Library Staff at either campus library location or fill out the Online Inter-library Loan form here.

Can I get to the databases from my home?

You can access the library’s subscription databases remotely via the library’s web page, C-key credentials are required for database access.  If you don’t have C-key access, library staff can help you get access.

Where can I find computers for word processing, Blackboard classes, and databases?

The library computers at both campus locations have the software and/or access needed for classes at Connors. This includes the latest edition of MS Office, BlackBoard coursework, nursing application software and other programs.

Can I check out materials from other Oklahoma colleges and universitites?

Connors participates in the OK-Share program. The OK-Share program allows students, faculty and staff at Oklahoma’s public colleges and universities to borrow materials from other public colleges across the state. To participate in OK-Share you must complete an OK-Share card application at either Connors’ Library location. If approved, you will receive a card entitling you to borrow from any participating library with the proper identification.
